Moskva Koranov

Proprietor of Koranov Investigations

Moskva Koranov was born and raised in a part of Glantri City known as Little Boldavia. Hundreds of kids were born there that year and there was nothing distinguishable about Moskva other than that her mother, Tania Koranov had died birthing her, and her father, Constable Markus Koranov, couldn't spoil his fifth and last daughter enough.

One by one her sisters returned to Boldavia, but Moskva remained with her father. She was eighteen when eventually she married her best friend from the smithy across the wall, Gregori Petrov. They lived happily until the birth of their son, Markus, named after Moskva's father who died only two days before his grandson's birth, left Moskva with an insurmountable dread fear of ever having another child. The pregnancy and birth had not gone well for her and together with the knowledge of her own mother's death, it was enough to push her to drastic measures. The marriage did not survive long although a Boldavian marriage vow is one that cannot be broken, not even by death.

She took up her father's commission with the city constabulary and worked the beat with her partner Ernie Reilly for eight years until a terrible 'accident' left her permanently blinded. The constabulary weren't particularly eager to have her back so not to be done out of her career and income, she opened up Koranov Investigations employing two young students of the Great School of Magic.

Alonzo and Jan soon went on to bigger and better things and life has changed harshly several times over for Moskva, but she is still open for business doing her part for the good of Glantri. Fires, wars, and Red Moons not withstanding. Her new staff makes it look more like a family business than she ever would have dreamed. Has anything really changed? Suffice it to say that all rumours of her involvement with the underground revolution against the current Magocracy are completely unsubstantiated.... at least they were.

Amongst these pages are brief glimmers of some of the things that have happened in her life, both past and present, and occasionally future. You will find the people who surround her, eventhough she is not always aware, and perhaps catch sight of the person she is. There is a tendency towards a more emotional outlook on her character here, so for the bare facts see the adventure records on the main Mystara page.

For the full story of the events that bring her to the beginning of the game's story, see The Short History of Moskva Koranov written many years later by her son. Be warned, it's far from short!

The Constables Ball is a spectacular affair and of course Moskva will be there. In the year 1000 Caliban Montaya came to town and was told a thing or two by Old Dietrich about the Koranov family while at The Ball.

Working for Glantri, she and her colleagues went to Alphatia where they were unjustly framed for murder. After a month in an Alphatian prison, Moskva is looking for Justice.

As if things weren't bad enough, she went back. It was a visit that resulted in making New Year's 1001 the worst of her life. There was another reason for that too, one that goes back to a wedding vow she and Gregori could not keep... Till Death Do Us Part.

The war has started and already things are looking grim for Glantri. Scenes from a Gallery of Frost, aka, 'A Day in the Life of Glantri City', aka, 'I Can Write Pretentious Titles Too', tells the story of one unremarkable day near the end of Winter in seven scenes.

Things started to happen fast and furious, there was the incident at Hule, payment of old debts, and a Red Moon never to be forgotten... They all tell the story of It's Either Sadness of Euphoria in no less than thirteen parts. Not a lot of Euphoria in there. Don't say you weren't warned!

After her short sabbatical, Moskva is back in business and taking no crap. Injustice will no longer be tolerated and she's got a few ideas on just how to do that. Many years later Markus compiled The Koranov Documents to share her vision with anyone who cares.

Occasionally Moskva and Alonzo take a break from their busy schedules for the purposes of Crossing Swords.

The Night of the Red Moon fast approaches again in 1002 and it brings with it an uneasiness to permeate every Boldavian Night.

A plague has arrived upon Glantri. It brings with it despair and helplessness and only one avenue for relief. Unfortunately it is not a popular option but the choice has already been made When the Clerics Come Marching In. Even that can only knock Moskva off balance for a little while.

Everything changes (again) on The Last Day of Autumn, aka 'Not a Happy Birthday, Moskva?' and when Tania and Caliban come Home Again.

One day all the magic dies creating a few Scenes from When the Music Stopped, aka 'Another Day in the Life of Glantri', aka 'I Still Got It.' Cold weather for these ones too!

She disappears but life doesn't get too boring without her in A Kind of Magic, aka 'All Rumours of Me Being a Romantic are Completely Unsubstantiated'.

The Undead attack Glantri and Moskva is haunted by Ghosts of Corrans Past.

Every saga has its ending. At least for a little while. This is as happy, bright, and cheerful as its going to get so get out your shades coz Here Comes the Sun for a happy ending.

Until World in Flames anyway....
